The Director leads the Center for Entrepreneurship, associated activities and development of entrepreneurial thinking in students and faculty across the Millikin campus. This position engages in community outreach to cultivate and steward entrepreneurial connections to the Millikin campus community. The Director works with a team to deliver programmatic and appropriate initiatives to support the mission and direction of the Center for Entrepreneurship.

 

This position has been designated as a 鈥淟imited-Essential鈥 Employee under the Emergency Preparedness Plan to ensure that University business operations can continue uninterrupted during periods that require Millikin University to close or restrict operations the employee may be required to report to work by their supervisor. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:  

  •  Develop and execute plans and strategies to create, sustain, and grow entrepreneurship curriculum and programs in both campus and business communities.
  • Guide the establishment, funding, and sustainability of student-run ventures, which includes appropriate faculty development.
  • Coordinate and promote student entrepreneurial organizations and competitions on campus.
  • Collaborate with outside resources to establish entrepreneurship education and recruitment programs in regional schools.
  • Develop, support, and nurture initiatives that support area small businesses, startups, and proprietorships. 
  • Teach two Entrepreneurship courses per academic year (6 credits).
  • Recommend an annual budget for all Center activities and manage disbursement of gift and endowment funds with the Dean.
  • Actively collaborate with others on various fundraising campaigns and grant opportunities to financially support the Center for Entrepreneurship by engaging alumni and other (potential) donors. 
  • Contribute to Tabor School of Business and University initiatives, meetings, team sessions, and committees as appropriate or assigned.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Supervise a team of student workers and/or graduate assistants to execute operational activities, events, and programmatic initiatives.

 

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to succeed in a result-driven professional organization. Maintaining professional performance, demeanor, team-approach and focus on results while working under pressure in a dynamic environment. Experience in teaching, presenting workshops and/or providing coating in an academic setting is highly desirable. Proven record of engaging external partners. Ability to establish priorities, work independently with minimal supervision, and facilitate teamwork. Highly organized, with the ability to plan, execute and multitask to meet deadlines. Must have a demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.  

 Minimum Education and/or Experience  

  • Minimum of master鈥檚 degree in business or entrepreneurship.
  • Experience in starting a successful enterprise is preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership and collaboration.
  • Ability to interact and communicate with a wide variety of constituent groups.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Evidence of personal initiative and follow through.
  • Excellent organizational skills.

Ability to plan, evaluate, and improve initiatives to achieve desired results.
