Dr. Tony R. Magagna is Associate Professor and Chair of English, having joined the Millikin English Department in 2009. He grew up in Southwest Wyoming and earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Wyoming. In 2008, he completed his Ph.D. in English at the University of California-Davis, where he focused his research on modern and contemporary American literature, specializing in the literature and culture of the American West and in issues of space, place, and regional identity in American literature. He has published multiple articles in the field, and has twice served as a Fulbright Professor in American Studies, lecturing on these subjects in Germany in 2012-2013 and in Japan in 2018-2019. As the Warren F. Hardy Distinguished Professor of English at Millikin from 2015-2017, Dr. Magagna began a new track in his teaching and research, exploring the intersections of new media and technology with literary study, focusing specifically on the narrative possibilities of interactive media and video games; more information can be found on the website for his "Digital Literatures" course at .
