This is a part-time, permanent position that is responsible for processing all university incoming and outgoing mail, tracking university incoming and outgoing packages through multiple carriers, co-management of student workers, and pick-up of mail from the United States Postal Service (USPS).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:  

  • Pick up mail from the United States Postal Service (USPS) office location.
  • Sort and store interdepartmental and USPS mail for distribution to campus mailboxes. 
  • Assist in maintaining an organized and secure area for mail and package holding inclusive of keeping sensitive packages (e.g., medical supplies) secure and separate. 
  • Process packages from UPS, Express Mail, Media Mail, FedEx and other vendors via campus arrival/notification system.
  • Deliver mail to campus community and adequately track delivery through university systems. 
  • Maintain knowledge of governmental regulations pertaining to proper mail handling and processing.
  • Understand and complete opening and closing operations.
  • Run reports for internal operations.
  • Maintain a secure environment for all mail and packages.  
  • Provide customer service to all campus constituents that enter the office.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned by the supervisor. 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position does not have supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws but may provide daily direction and assistance to student employees.

Ability to establish priorities, work independently with minimal supervision and facilitate teamwork. Highly organized, with the ability to plan, execute and multitask to meet deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail. 

 Minimum Education and/or Experience 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and standard computer use.
  • Previous experience with mail processing, preferred.
  • Must have valid Driver’s License.
