Nancy Denisse Dur谩n specializes in Twentieth and Twentieth First Century Latin American literature and culture. Dr. Dur谩n received her Ph.D. from the University of California, Riverside with a concentration on Mexican and Colombian narratives. Her research centers on how contemporary authors present a revisionist writing of fairy tales with a focus on women鈥檚 representation in literature. In contemporary narrative, she is interested in issues related to fantasy and the appropriation of fairy tale tropes.
Dr. Dur谩n has taught all levels of Spanish language, culture, and Latin American and Peninsular literature courses. She is currently teaching beginning, continuing, and intermediate courses at Millikin University. In the classroom, her main goal is to promote intellectual engagement of students with cultural texts of all kinds while simultaneously helping them become discerning thinkers and community leaders.
