Need Based Grants:
- Millikin Tuition Grants Funds—Awarded from University resources and endowed scholarship funds based on the student's level of financial need.
- Illinois Monetary Awards Program (MAP) Grant—This program provides over $4 million annually to Millikin students. The grant assists Illinois residents who attend Illinois postsecondary institutions. Eligibility is determined by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) based on FAFSA information and a prescribed formula set annually. For maximum award eligibility, a student must be enrolled in 15 credit hours. The award will be adjusted if the student is enrolled in less than 15 credit hours. - Federal Pell and Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (SEOG)—The Federal Pell and SEOG programs provide over $3.8 million annually in grant assistance to Millikin students who demonstrate a high financial need. Eligibility is based solely on FAFSA results and maximum award amounts are set annually by Federal guidelines.
- Year-Round-Pell - Students may be eligible to receive the Pell Grant in summer, if enrolled for a minimum of 6 credit hours. Every student enrolled in the summer term will be reviewed.
Non-Need Based Grant:
- Federal Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant. The TEACH Grant Program provides up to $4000 per year (pro-rated for less than full time study) in grant assistance to undergraduate students pursuing their first Bachelor's degree, who agree to serve for at least four years as full-time "highly qualified" teacher in high need fields in public or not-for-profit, private elementary or secondary schools. The school must be included on the Federal list of schools that serve low income students. If the four-year teaching obligation is not met within eight years of graduation, the grant will convert to an unsubsidized loan, which will have to be repaid with interest calculated back to the earliest date the funds were disbursed. To be eligible at Millikin, a student must be enrolled in a program within the Millikin School of Education and:
- complete a Free application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- be a U. S. Citizen or eligible non-citizen
- be an undergraduate student pursuing a first Bachelor's degree
- have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25. A minimum of 3.25 must be maintained to renew the grant each year.
- complete TEACH Grant entrance counseling and sign an Agreement to Serve
- pursue teacher certification in one of the shortage areas below:
- Foreign Language
- Mathematics
- Science
- State identified shortage area as recognized by a state education authority
- Bilingual Education & English Language Acquisition
- Reading Specialist
- Special Education
