The Millikin Art Club
The Millikin Art Club was created for and by students who desired a place outside of the classroom to discuss, experience, and develop their interests in the arts. Any student interested in art is encouraged to attend meetings and planned excursions since the organization is not relegated to art majors. The Art Club invites and desires students from all disciplines, especially freshmen who are looking to expand their creative outlook and make new friends at the same time.
The Art Club is involved in various campus activities like the annual Homecoming celebration. Off campus, the Art Club has supported the Decatur Arts Council with volunteers for their auction and Art in the Park events. The club also participated in the Decatur Symphony of Trees and won First Place in the Children's Favorite category for their five foot tree made up entirely of Legos!
There are a great number of activities the club plans for the year, as well. Members play board games, listen to music, and enjoy an informal atmosphere for discussing art and just relaxing. The Art Club plans various excursions to see the latest exhibits and artist lectures in addition to visiting the museums in Chicago, St. Louis, and Indianapolis. Also, the club plans other kinds of fun activities like ordering pizza and watching artsy movies.
